Srinagar, February 11 (KNO) : Anger is brimming in Kargil and protests are gaining intensity day by day to demand installation of rotational headquarters in Leh and Kargil for the newly established Ladakh division. On Monday, a massive protest rally was held to press government to look into the matter and take a quick call on the issue. According to KNO correspondent, Kargil residents blocked roads at Dogra Chowk and staged massive protest demonstrations against the Governor administration to demand rotational Administrative headquarters for Leh and Kargil. Former MLA and CEC Hassan Ali Karbalai told the gathering that he hoped that much before the genuine demand, if delayed, turns into animosity of any kind, there will be reasonable judgment. “All the institutions will resign from the offices and there will be civil disobedience movement if the rightful demands of Kargil people, who have never shy away from sacrificing anything for the sake of country, is not met," Karbalai told the gathering. He said that they have a simple and genuine demand that there should be rotational headquarters for the newly established Ladakh division of the state. Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was observed in Kargil and adjoining areas over the issue. Reports reaching KNO said that shops and business establishments are closed, while roads are deserted due to the shutdown called by local leaders in Kargil. Panchayat leaders, Municipal Committees and the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (Kargil) have already threatened to resign en masse if the government does not modify its order.(KNO)
